||He works in oil paint, producing richly colorful portraits and imagery of Eastern European daily life. Trained in the atelier at the traditional Bulgarian University of Arts, Ignatov has made a career as a teacher and demonstrator of alla prima painting. During his monthlong residency, the Kwan Fong will be transformed from gallery to studio. Visitors are invited to watch and learn as the artist creates new works and shares his technical ability, painting portraits of gallery visitors and teaching students. A reception will be held at 7 p.m. Feb. 9. Admission is free. The Artist in Residence program is made possible by the support of the Artists and Speakers Committee. The Kwan Fong Gallery of Art and Culture, located in the Soiland Humanities Center, is open to the public Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Street parking is by permit only. Visitor parking is available in the lot at the corner of Mountclef Boulevard and Olsen Road.
