Ojai Land Conservancy: Meadows Restoration Project
Volunteers are needed every Friday morning at the Ojai Meadows, located next to Nordhoff High School on Maricopa Highway in Ojai, to assist staff and the restorations specialists with raking, planting and providing general help with the project. Onsite training is provided when needed. For more information, contact Brian Stark or Mark Reid at 649-6852.
Ojai Land Conservancy: Restoration and maintenance
The conservancy has ongoing needs for trail clearing and maintenance, and help with restoration projects on its preserves. These are most often project-specific, with projects lasting from one day to a month or more. They may include, but are not limited to weeding, planting, cutting brush from trails, moving rocks, monitoring plant growth or fish populations, graffiti cleanup, sign maintenance and trash pickup. Ojai Land Conservancy:  Office and administrative projects
Volunteers are needed to help with mailings, copy editing, proof reading, data entry, making calls to improve communications with members, writing stories, preparing events and grounds maintenance. For more information, contact Brian Stark or Mark Reid at 649-6852.
Ventura County Fire Department: On-call support at fire incidents
Logistics (LOGS) volunteers are needed to support Ventura County Fire Department (VCFD) staff by responding to fire incidents throughout Ventura County on an on-call basis. This is a base support, non-firefighter position. Tasks include taking a large box truck to the base camp with supplies, which include drinking water, food, batteries and canopies.  Generally the volunteer will respond and assist at the incident. Ventura County Fire Department: Community Education program
Volunteer opportunities for Fire Prevention Community Education activities include assisting with 1. the Junior Fire Fighter Challenge, an obstacle course for children, at local special events; 2. the Fire Safety House, a specially equipped trailer in which staff and volunteers teach children household safety lessons (drivers are needed on occasion to tow the trailer to and from special events), 3. Fire Department information booths at community events. For more information, call Joncee Kohls 389-9745.
LSS Community Care Center: Ending Poverty One Family at a Time – Circles of Ventura County:
Volunteers in the Conejo Valley are needed to join the Circles of Ventura County Guiding Coalition, a community-based initiative working to end poverty. The Coalition provides inspiration, support, planning and leadership necessary for Circles to be a success.  The Coalition meets once per month in a group meeting and members are involved in teams within the Coalition that work in between meetings to accomplish tasks. For more information, contact Kristin Youngman at 497-6207, ext. 205, or kyoungman@lsssc.org.
