AN EVENING WITH BIJIAN FAN Tuesday, Feb. 12, 6-7:30 p.m. Focus on the Masters Tuesday Talk Series presents the Camarillo resident who was exhibited at the Olympic Culture Festival in Beijing, and whose captivating paper sculptures you’ve seen at the entrances to the Museum of Ventura County and Gull Wings Museum. Fan studied in China, Japan and the U.S, earning an M.A. in mathematics and a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering. Admission is free for FOTM members; general admission, $10; students and seniors, $5. JAZZ REACH CONCERT Saturday, Feb. 9. Performances To Grow On will present the acclaimed multi media jazz concert “Big Drum/ Small World” from New York’s Jazz Reach, a highly creative unit comprised of some of today’s brightest emerging jazz artists. The quintet has played prestigious venues across the nation to standing ovations. Two performances will be presented, a special 1 hour kid’s performance at 3 p.m. and a full main-stage performance at 7:30 p.m. geared for an adult audience. Tickets for the children’s show at are $15 for kids and $20 for adults, the full-length evening show is $30. Scherr Forum Theatre, 2100 Thousand Oaks Blvd., Thousand Oaks. THE ARTISTS SOIREE Feb. 9 through March 14. A new series for art lovers begins this year with a full schedule of group and solo shows. The “Artists’ Soiree,” featuring works by Ventura County artists will take place monthly at Jewelry Couture by Sehati. Each show will have a special evening gala beginning with the inaugural show, The Artist Collection, on Saturday, Feb. 9, 5-7 p.m. Artists include JoAnne Duby (sculpture pictured), Andrea Vargas Mendoza, Virginia Beale, Lynn Creighton Steve Cook and more. 390 S. BOLERO MUSIC 7:30-9:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8.Hear the beautiful melodies, enchanting rhythms and romantic lyrics of authentic Mexican Bolero music as three popular music groups — Los Unicos, Dueto Los Amigos, and Dueto Santa Paula — give a live concert at the Museum of Ventura County’s Agriculture Museum in Santa Paula. The groups will perform traditional ballads, and these songs of love, desire, courtship and heartbreak will make for a romantic evening. Admission to the concert is $10 for the general public and $5 for museum members. Refreshments and a no-host bar will be available. 926 Railroad Avenue, Santa Paula.
