GLEN PHILLIPS Since his main project, Toad the Wet Sprocket, became an occasional entity, Glen Phillips has crafted a solo career to rival it. With three studio albums and a live recording to his name, he’s evolved as both a songwriter and a performer. But he finds there is a certain pressure to going it alone. He still collaborates, most recently with Garrison Starr and Neilson Hubbard, with some interesting results. A heavyweight in Santa Barbara’s singer-songwriter scene, Phillips will give fans an intimate experience at Zoey’s this weekend. Sunday, April 26. Zoey’s Loft, 451 E. Main St., Ventura. 652-1137, www.zoeyscafe.com.
SEA LIONS Featuring the incomparable finger-picking of Matthew Urango and the classically trained organist Kyle Zufolo, Sea Lions have developed a local cult following as well as international attention. Having just released a 7” vinyl record on Yay! Records, they are part of the burgeoning "Sound Of Young Oxnard” scene. Saturday, April 25, 1 p.m. Buffalo Records, 105 S Oak St., Ventura, 648-3345.
