TWO NIGHTS, TWO COMICS, TWO PERSPECTIVES Whether by design or by coincidence, two comedians with completely opposing socio-political viewpoints will hit the stage at Ventura Harbor Comedy Club, quite appropriately on Halloween weekend. First up, on Thursday, Oct. 29, is Evan Sayet (left), whose Right to Laugh repertoire has earned the kudos of neo-cons such as Anne Coulter and (gasp!) Tammy Bruce. Sayet was previously a writer for Real Time with Bill Maher and is well-versed in the political arena. Jason Stuart, one of very few openly gay comedians in the business is slated to perform Friday and Saturday at the club for what is sure to be a different audience than Sayet’s. Stuart loves playing the funny gay guy, but realized early on that he couldn’t earn a living playing gay characters alone, as the roles are scarce. Recently, he had a starring role on the TV series The Closer and is preparing for a role on the acclaimed series It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, in addition to his slew of film and television credits past and present. Ventura Harbor Comedy Club, 1559 Spinnaker Dr., Ventura. 644-1500, www.venturaharborcomedyclub.com.
It’s the annual Halloween tributes gone crazy show, this year featuring renditions of the Misfits, Weezer and Alice in Chains. Friday, Oct. 30, 9 p.m. at Nicholby’s in Ventura.
Trailer Queen and the Phantom Riders will put you in the Halloween spirit at Bombay Bar & Grill on Thursday, Oct. 29.
Halloween at the Lodge with Teresa James and Shawn Jones, a concert to benefit FOODSHARE. 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31.
Friday, Oct. 30, I Was a Lover, Delorean Was a Dealer, is joined by Love Hate Affair at Sans Souci.
