VIOLINIST SARAH CHANG Saturday, Oct. 5.
Renowned violinist Sarah Chang opens the 2013/2014 season of the New West Symphony with Max Bruch’s First Violin Concerto. After her debut at the age of eight, Sarah Chang has played with artists such as Yo-Yo Ma, Isaac Stern and Pinchas Zukerman. $34-$107. 8 p.m. Fred Kavli Theater, Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, 2100 E Thousand Oaks Blvd, Thousand Oaks. The 20th anniversary of this event will see restaurants, cafes, wineries and breweries serving their signature dishes and beverages from tented booths along the seaside Promenade with a performance by The MiniDriver Band. “GLASS, WOOD, WATER” David Blackburn, Gwenlyn Norton and Erika Craig (“Transcendence,” pictured). Blackburn is slated as a 2013 Focus on the Masters documented artist and will be interviewed on Oct. 8 as part of FOTM’s Tuesday Talk series. Craig has a bachelor’s in art from CSUCI and likes to paint figurative underwater pieces. Norton, a graphic artist, is skilled in glasswork and painting.
