DAY OF THE DEAD CELEBRATIONS

COSTUME PARTY IN THE HARBOR Oct. 31, 9 p.m.

DAY OF THE DEAD CELEBRATION Nov. 3, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Art, altars and a free first Sunday of music, dance and crafts are the highlight, including traditional son jarocho music from the Veracruz region of Mexico played by the local group Proyecto Jarocho. $1-$4. DOWNTOWN OXNARD’S PUMPKIN FUN DAY Oct. 31, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. The Plaza Park farmers market will offer mummy wraps and pumpkin bowling. At 2 p.m., there will be trick or treating as well. THE GHOSTS OF VENTURA’S CITY HALL Oct. 31, 8-10 p.m. Ventura’s City Hall, like many historic courthouses, has stories of ghosts. Such phantoms as the floating head of a long dead judge are rumored to appear here.

GHOST TALES AT THE OLIVAS ADOBE Nov. 1, 8-10 p.m. Spooky tales of ghosts long-rumored to haunt the historic Olivas Adobe will highlight this ghost investigation hosted by Richard Senate. GHOUL WINGS FILM CONTEST AND FESTIVAL Nov. 1, 6-8 p.m. The Gull Wings Children’s Museum will host a Halloween-inspired short-film festival for children.
