The 24th Annual Best Of Ventura County

By Michael Sullivan 09/17/2009

Welcome to the 24th annual Best Of Ventura County issue — our yearly reader’s poll. This is our biggest issue of the year, and we are proud to announce this year’s winners, spanning the gamut of more than 140 categories, from beauty and style to food and drink to recreation. What is even more exciting, though, is the jump in participation. Nearly double the number of votes was cast for this year’s Best Of poll over last year’s — 5,400 votes — which proves that our local businesses are reaching their customers, who believe in their products and services.

In this year’s Best Of, you will see familiar names as well as new businesses who have managed to win the loyalty of Ventura County consumers. Congratulations to longstanding winners as well as newcomers. We know how tough it is out there right now, and are pleased to see that many have risen above the economic storm and come out successful.

Along with your selection for Best Of, our editorial staff has chosen to highlight lesser-known businesses and attractions that offer a diverse selection of goods and services that we feel our readers would enjoy. While there are just too many interesting and unique businesses to include in this year’s editor’s picks, we hope you get a chance to experience some of the interesting purveyors and sites written about throughout the issue.

In order to get this issue to you, it takes a dedicated team of ad reps, photographers, writers, editors and production staff to pull together our Best Of edition. We want to thank everyone involved for all your hard work and time to make this year’s issue one of our best yet. We also want to thank all the proud parents and business owners who helped us create this year’s Best Of theme — children, our leaders of tomorrow.

Most of all, we thank you, our readers. Because, without you, we and all the businesses within these pages would not exist.

Thank you for reading the Reporter!
