The new era of ObamaScare
By Paul Moomjean 11/07/2013
A chill just went down my spine. And no, not because we’ve entered the cold winter months of 60-degree Southern California weather, but instead because we’ve seen over the last few weeks a presidential administration land on its face (or ass for the cruder folk) and put the country in a bigger mess than anyone thought was possible.
Poor President Barack Obama. The last few weeks have brought allegations claiming he has his “fingerprints” all over the IRS/Tea Party scandal, a faulty Obamacare website along with numerous broken health care promises, and more and more NSA violations. Not only has the media been uncannily on top of the failures of the Hope and Change Express, the pundits on both the left and the right have been equally dismayed.
First off, Bill Maher came on Piers Morgan’s interview show claiming that Obama lied to the American people about getting to keep their doctors so he could pass Obamacare. Michael Moore also added, on Bill Maher’s show Real Time, that this has hurt Obama’s credibility with the 20- to 30-year-olds needed to buy into the Affordable Care Act by showing his administration to be computer illiterate. These are two of Obama’s biggest fans, and yet they are even questioning his methods and results.
With the website crashing or not functioning as scheduled, people have already been fired and demeaned publicly. But even Obama has come to the self-realization he’s in over his head.
“There’s no denying it, right now. The website is too slow, too many people have gotten stuck, and I am not happy about it,” Obama stated in a speech. “And neither are a lot of Americans who need health care, and they’re trying to figure out how they can sign up as quickly as possible.”
Well-respected conservative Charles Krauthammer argues that it is the condescending nature of Obama and Jay Carney, the White House press secretary, that has caused this health care mess.
“Here these people are deciding if you’re a single male in your 60s, you don’t need the maternal care, you don’t — you’ve never smoked dope, you don’t need the substance abuse stuff,” Krauthammer recently said on Fox News. “You want a catastrophic plan, which is very rational, but Jay Carney is saying, you know, ‘you’re too stupid to understand what you want.’ Once you eliminate the market response, which is a lot of people decide I know what I want better than the bureaucrat and they’re eliminating this. That’s the essence of what’s happening and that’s why it’s not going to work.”
Things would be bad enough for the president if his health care baby was the only problem, but alas, the once-popular leader of the free world got his hand stuck in the cookie jar and is being sued by the American Center for Law and Justice, which has filed its second amended complaint against the United States, the IRS and a legion of IRS officials. According to Jay Sekulow, the chief counsel in the lawsuit, this complaint claims Obama’s constant mentioning of Tea Party groups in speeches paved the way for the IRS to go after the numerous conservative groups. Maybe he didn’t pull the trigger, but he definitely helped build the gun.
Then there are all those lovely NSA documents being leaked by Eric Snowden. The most recent piece of damaging information involves Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel and her cell phone. She made a phone call recently asking Obama if he was spying on her. The almost comical answer was that the United States “is not monitoring and will not monitor her communications.” Notice the White House didn’t deny potential past operations. Secretary of State John Kerry is also trying to figure out if America may have violated boundaries in Italy. It really never ends, does it?
With America’s cloud of uncertainty looming over our economy and our trustworthiness being questioned, these mishaps and blunders only show how incompetent this current administration truly is.
Obama promised to make America better, but instead he’s only continued much of the fumbling of the previous administration. We’ve left the era of Obamacare and are now in the new era of ObamaScare.
