When breaking the law is bueno

Remember when many on the Left were calling Barack Obama the Ronald Reagan for liberals? Well, he just stole a page from the Gipper’s 1986 playbook and is giving illegal (or the more politically correct term, “undocumented”) immigrants a bigger piece of the American dream by telling the under-30 crowd they are welcome to overstay their welcome.

According to news source The Hill, the Obama camp announced on Friday, June 15, that there will be a change in U.S. policy that will allow as many as 800,000 immigrants who came to the United States illegally, not only the right to remain in the country without fear of being deported, but to work legally. The stipulations are: as long as they came before age 16 and are younger than 30 and have lived in the country at least five years continuously, have no criminal record, are in school or earned a GED or high school diploma, or served honorably in the United States military. While this is not a pathway to citizenship, this act bypasses the Congress and makes it so those who qualify cannot be deported.

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano made a statement Friday morning, letting Americans know they can rest assured that not all laws mean what they say; and when people break laws and exploit American services, the government plans to make exceptions and excuses.

“Our nation’s immigration laws must be enforced in a firm and sensible manner,” Napolitano said in a statement, “but they are not designed to be blindly enforced without consideration given to the individual circumstances of each case. Nor are they designed to remove productive young people to countries where they may not have lived or even speak the language. Discretion, which is used in so many other areas, is especially justified here.”

I completely forgot that when someone breaks a law (even in ignorance) it is OK as long as they are being productive in other areas of life. Imagine if we reread Napolitano’s words again and replaced the word “immigrant” with the word “criminal” or “thief” or “Wall Street Banker” – oh, wait – and that is where we are falling apart as a culture and a country.

We slowly have declined into a culture that says breaking the law, stealing, not playing by the rules, etc., is quite acceptable if we can find a reason to keep you around.

Obama sold his soul to both the money of Wall Street and now for the votes of Latinos. He is attempting to redefine marriage to become, as Time Magazine labeled him, “the first gay president;” he wants to create a healthcare system like Western Europe’s; and with this new stance, he’s telling millions of American citizens still unemployed that the top priority isn’t them but instead illegal immigrants who can now take their jobs. No other country in the world would allow such lunacy. But then again, it is an election year.

“It’s a medium-risk, high-reward strategy,” said Democratic strategist Jamal Simmons. “I think you risk angering people who are upset about immigration, yes. But for a president who’s got to win Florida, Nevada, Colorado, it is definitely something that can give the Latino community something to rally around.”

With that statement, Mr. Simmons just summed up Obama’s 2012 new campaign slogan: Screw America, I Need Votes.

This lowering of America’s standards and values will bring an end to our exceptionalism, no doubt. Obama’s war on American values (law-abiding citizenship, hard work, capitalism) is becoming more hostile, and his motives are beyond selfish.

In the 1987 James L. Brooks’ film Broadcast News, Albert Brooks gave a speech about the devil, comparing him to an egomaniac news reporter. This was the speech:

“What do you think the devil is going to look like if he’s around? Nobody is going to be taken in if he has a long, red, pointy tail. No. I’m semi-serious here. He will look attractive and he will be nice and helpful and he will get a job where he influences a great God-fearing nation and he will never do an evil thing. … He will just, bit by little bit, lower standards where they are important.”

I’m not saying Obama is the devil, but his agenda will bring hell on earth to the next generation if we don’t watch ourselves.

gotta love the conservative mind. Desperate people break the law to survive and give their kids a life. And it's the end of the rule of law and the bringing of hell on earth that their kids raised in America but not born here get a couple of years grace.

But the banksters who brought down the economy? Or the polluters BP or was it Halliburton's flawed equipment? Either way none of their execs will see the inside of a jail.

The real threats and bad guys get away literally with murder and they get another shot to do it again with the same rules.

I'm astonished that the young people are not out in the streets yelling their head off about the world the plutocracy is leaving to them.
