Boys & Girls Club of Conejo: assist club staff in child supervision (Newbury Park)
We need help in supervising club members as they engage in outdoor activities. We ask that volunteers please be older than 21.

Hearts of Fire Project: audio and video engineers and editors (Ojai)

We need people who can record music and video at homeless shelters in connection with our program. Must be able to operate computer-based audio and video software and use audio and video equipment. Orientation to the project will be provided, however, no audio or video training will be available.

American Cancer Society: cosmetologists needed (Ventura)

Licensed cosmetologists and their assistants teach cancer patients beauty techniques to help restore their appearance and self-image during chemotherapy and radiation treatments. Session facilitators are required to be licensed; facilitator assistants are not required to be licensed. Requirements vary depending upon volunteer role.

Prototypes Women’s Center: help with babies (Oxnard)
Do you like to hold, rock, sing to and love babies? Then this volunteer opportunity is for you. Prototypes Women’s Center, a nonprofit, residential treatment center for women and their children, is looking for individuals who can volunteer for a shift or two in our children’s center every week. Shifts are 1.5 – 4 hours.

Interface Children Family Services: court-appointed special advocate (Camarillo)
Volunteer advocates are specially trained and then become officers of the court to enable them to speak on a child’s behalf so that it doesn’t get lost in the foster care system. Spanish speakers and men are especially appreciated! Volunteers must be a minimum of 21 years of age, undergo extensive background checks, and receive 40 hours of pertinent training.

Ventura County Animal Regulation: public information officer (Camarillo)
Volunteers are needed to write stories for local media about our shelter animals to help them get adopted, as well as get the word out about some of the wonderful programs being offered, such as the Pet Pantry, a FOOD Share for pets, or our “Peter Rabbit Goes to School” program.

SPIRIT of Santa Paula: Many Meals (Santa Paula)
Help serve meals to homeless and hungry neighbors each Wednesday evening. Help needed includes food preparation from 9 a.m. through cleanup at 6 p.m. Monetary donations gratefully accepted as well. Volunteers of all ages welcome.

Minimal training is provided on site as needed.

Interface Children Family Services: community outreach assistant (Camarillo)
The community outreach assistant identifies and attends community events aimed at preventing family/domestic violence or creating awareness about it. The assistant seeks community response to end domestic violence by promoting volunteer opportunities.

Schools on Wheels: Tutor a homeless child (countywide)
School on Wheels is seeking volunteers to tutor a homeless child one hour a week. Volunteers must be 21 or older living in Ventura County. Tutors will be fingerprinted and background-checked. Orientation and training will be held in Ventura.
