Friday, April 29, Rock City Studios presents a benefit for Japan with The Generator, The Braces, Bad Suns, the Bogarts, Shadows of Aries and Game 21. All-ages, 7 p.m.

Saturday, April 30, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., as part of Ventura Music Week, Saturday Night Sound presents the Local Rock Picnic featuring: New Liberty, 8Stops7, Kyle Hunt & the King Gypsy, Softsilence, The Deadbeat Sinners, The Grittys, Spartacus, The Hunter and the Prey, The Rhine, The Ferrell Experiment and Facing the Fallen. All-ages are welcome. Free.

Margarita Villa welcomes the kings of Southern California outlaw country,  29 Mules, on Friday, April 29, 7 p.m.

The Divine Crime gets an early start at the Whale’s Tail on Friday, April 22, 6 p.m.

Thursday, April 21 it’s a youthquake at The Canyon with Jetstream, Left on Bromley, Blowing up the Moon and Skick.

Saturday night, April 23, Zoey’s is offering two very different bands: Restless Hillfillies at 7 p.m. and Purge Insurgency at 10 p.m.

Music week begins on Wednesday, April 27. Lots of great music will be featured in venues citywide, including Frank Barajas  at the Wine Rack from 6-8 p.m.

Saturday, April 16 is national Record Store Day.  Buffalo Records in Ventura will have exclusive vinyl releases for sale and live music by The Action Index, Pep Talk!, Birdfeeder and The Clouds. Grady’s Record Refuge in Ventura will feature guest DJs Rossangeles, Jeff Grimes and  jazz radio legend Chuck Cecil. The fun starts at 1 p.m. at both stores.

Guitar guru Shawn Jones performs Thursday, April 14 and Sunday, April 17, 3 p.m. at W20 in Ventura. 

There may be only one original member, but The Temptations songs performed live will always be a treat. See them on Sunday, April 17 at The Canyon. 

Hi-Hat Entertainment presents the Hollywood Blue Flames at Yolie’s in Ventura on Friday, April 15.
