Spencer Makenzie’s End of Summer Block Party returns for the second year with two days of live music entertainment by Ventura’s best loved performers plus a special appearance by the king of surf guitar Dick Dale. Jeff Hershey and the Heartbeats, Rey Fresco, Shades of Day, Jackass, The Divine Crime, Shaky Feelin’, Sideshow Preachers and Kyle Hunt and the King Gypsy are just a fraction of the entertainment. Both days will also include a car show, YMCA kids zone, vendors and cornhole tournament as well as great food. $5 admission per day. Rock City Studios presents the Metal vs. Hardcore fest, two days and nights of face-melting music by dozens of bands including Stop Breathing, Mata Hari, American Hoss, Downpresser, Take Offense and Crucial. Friday and Saturday, Aug. 26-27, 1:30 p.m. ‘till it’s over.

Saturday: The White Buffalo, Jay Nash, Tony Lucca, Matt Duke (T.F.D.I.), B Willing James and Justine Bennett. Sunday: Rincon Ramblers, Lee Koch, Ted Lennon, Delaney Gibson and Jamie Drake. Festivities begin at 7 p.m.

The Ojai Classic Rock and Reggae Festival will feature 25 bands, vendors and more at the newly renovated Libbey Bowl on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 12-14. The weekend will feature a handful of original rock and reggae acts and a slew of classic rock tribute acts performing everything from AC/DC, The Grateful Dead, Cream and Lynyrd Skynyrd to Led Zeppelin, the Beatles and the Rolling Stones.
