BERLIN: THE MUSIC OF IRVING BERLIN Through Feb. 10. Join Maestro Gary Poirot at the baby grand as he presents Irving Berlin’s music and memories, featuring a cast of Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center audience favorites. VENTURA COUNTY MARTIN LUTHER KING DAY 8 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21. The 2013 Celebration will start as at Plaza Park (5th and C Streets in Downtown Oxnard), followed by a “Freedom March” at 8:30 a.m. to the Oxnard Performing Arts Center (OPAC), 800 Hobson Way, Oxnard. The indoor program starts at 9 a.m. In addition to keynote speaker Dr. Gregory Freeland of Cal Lutheran University, the program will feature the MLK Youth Celebration Choir under the direction of Ms. Mary Ann Woodard, AKA Youth Speaker Jordan Preciado, and Academic Achievement Honorees from around the county. Refreshments will be served in the Oxnard and Ventura Rooms after the program. $7 admission to the event and can be purchased in advance OPAC or at www.etix.com by searching “MLK Observance Program & March.”
