Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA), through United Way of Ventura County, has more than 100 tax preparation volunteers. Those who earned less than $52,000 in 2013 can have their taxes prepared and e-filed for free at an EARN IT! Keep It! Save It! VITA location. Some may qualify for the earned-income tax credit (EITC) when the tax return is filed. The VITA sites will be open through April 12. VITA sites are located in Oxnard, Ventura, Santa Paula, Simi Valley, Moorpark, Thousand Oaks and Camarillo. Call 211 Ventura County to schedule an appointment at any of the 10 VITA locations.
