Plant a tree in Ventura
On Sat., Nov. 14, the Ventura Hillsides Conservancy (VHC) will host a community tree planting party at the Big Rock Preserve near Foster Park to help kickoff the city of Ventura’s 150th birthday. VHC invites volunteers and community leaders to join it from 9 a.m.to noon along the Ventura River Parkway to help plant 150 oak trees on property owned and managed by VHC. Thanksgiving volunteers for seniors
Volunteers are needed Thanksgiving morning for Volunteer Action for Aging’s 23 Annual Thanksgiving Meal Delivery Event throughout Ventura County. Volunteers will share a brief visit and deliver meals to over 2,000 seniors on Thanksgiving Day. Sixty volunteers are needed. Transportation Drivers or Friendly Visitors needed
OASIS has volunteer opportunities for transportation drivers to take clients to doctor appointments in the Ventura, Oxnard and Camarillo area. Volunteer opportunities are available to become a “Friendly Visitor” who is matched with one special senior to help with grocery shopping, errands, appointments and provide friendly companionship on a long-term basis. Volunteer schedules are flexible to accommodate availability. Volunteers have to fill out a short application. A current driver’s license and auto insurance is required as well as fingerprinting.
