Ah, the soft tingle of bubbly on your tongue, the warmth of an evening stroll down Main Street, Ventura, the sweet finish of chocolate; who could ask for more? If the answer is “arts and crafts,” then the Champagne on Main Spring Wine Walk and Street Fair is where you’ll want to be this Saturday, April 16.
Revelers will visit retailers on Main Street who will pour from a selection of champagnes, sparkling wines and craft beer alongside small bites, beginning at 3 p.m. Prior to the start of the event, a street fair will be set up downtown, free for all visitors.
A mix of over 24 wineries and breweries will be featured, including local winery Herzog Cellars, Paso Robles’ acclaimed Opolo Vineyards, champagne and sparkling wine from the French producers Michel Olivier, and Grandial, Napa producer Ca’ Secco, Italian producer Tiamo and more, as well as local breweries Topa Topa Brewing Co., Island Brewing Co. and Rincon Brewing out of Carpinteria.
Event founder Vincenzo Giammanco says that this year’s event has been tweaked from years prior to improve traffic flow and to add new activities and features, including a so-called “doughnut wall,” which is exactly what it sounds like.
“It’s literally a wall of doughnuts,” said Giammanco. “I want to be a little mysterious on some of the new things we have planned, but we’ve been working on the experience.”
Other aspects include a dance party at California and Main Street at the event’s conclusion with DJ Q hosting and a “VIP Chocolate Lounge,” featuring desserts, truffles and all the champagne, sparkling wine and beer tastings you can manage.
The Champagne on Main Spring Wine Walk & Street Fair begins this Saturday, April 16, from 11 a.m. (for the street fair) and 3-6:30 p.m. for the wine walk, Downtown Ventura. Tickets range from $50-70. For more information, visit www.champagneonmain.com.
