The Majestic Ventura Theater was the site of a rare appearance by renowned singer/songwriter Jackson Browne, who played a solo acoustic benefit concert on Tuesday, Oct. 4.

Accompanied on the stage by a grand piano and a collection of 20 rare and interesting guitars, he showed the audience that his evocative voice and poignant, musical storytelling have not lost the impact that distinguished him as one of America’s most visionary and important songwriters.

Along with a smattering of hits, he shared jokes, stories and fragments of political commentary, at one point referring affectionately to Ventura as “Bakersfield by the Sea.”

The show raised money for Safety Harbor Kids, a Malibu-based charity helping orphan, foster and homeless youth throughout Southern California.
