What began as a Ventura High walkout in protest of the election of Donald Trump quickly became a joint march with Dakota Access Pipeline protesters as well, on Friday, Nov. 18. Around 20 students from the school marched down Main Street toward downtown, carrying signs with various slogans, one reading, “We do not want a rapist in office.” An instructor from the school, however, said that the Dakota Access Pipeline protesters were not a part of the Ventura High group, but instead had usurped the message of the protest somewhat, pushing the students to the back of the group.
