Ojai: Horse Rescue fun and fundraiser
California Coastal Horse Rescue (CCHR) in Ojai on Sunday, April 23, celebrated Help a Horse Day with an open house and family fun day at the rescue’s ranch. Nearly 600 members of the community attended the event — a record number of visitors at one time to the ranch. The day featured food, games, live music, a silent auction, pony cart rides and the Rescue’s horses. Help A Horse Day raised more than $4,000.

Ventura: Planting a landmark tree
The Rancho San Buenaventura Conservation Trust planted a new tree, a 15-foot Tasmanian blue gum eucalyptus, on Saturday, April 22, Earth Day, to replace one of the two legacy trees on the hill above Ventura. The tree, donated by Baron Brothers’ Nursery in Santa Rosa, is expected to grow six to eight feet per year.

Youth climate march
Local high school students organized and attended the iMatter Youth Climate March on April 23 from Ventura’s Plaza Park to City Hall for the City Council meeting to remind the Council that the Climate Report Card created by the group and delivered last May left the city of Ventura with a C- and that the group is serious about helping the city to improve its grade.
