The Museum of Ventura County will host the Fire and Mud Poetry Reading, 3 p.m., Jan. 12, at the Martin V. and Martha K. Smith Pavilion, 100 E. Main Street, Ventura. There is currently an open call to poets interested in participating to submit original poems about the wildfires and floods/mudslides that have impacted our communities over the past year. The event is hosted and curated by Ventura County Poet Laureate Phil Taggart, Santa Barbara Poet Laureate Enid Osborn and Malibu Poet Laureate Ricardo Means Ybarra. The deadline to submit is Dec. 31, 2018. Submit poems, along with city of residence, to firstname.lastname@example.org. Readers will be notified by Jan. 5, 2019. Please note that this is not an open mic event.
